March 23rd, 2021— Inhumane activity that recently took place in Atlanta, Georgia has left the nation in great distress. America has a history of violence against Asian American communities. Robert Aaron Long, 21 on March 16 has been charged with the murder of 8 people. Six of them belonged to the AAPI community and were women. This is no coincidence that the crime is related to racial hatred against Asian communities. The act of unjust is a shame on humanity and values that we inherit as humans, despite emphasizing our ethnicity and race. Diversity in every nation holds great importance, people from different ethnicity, race, caste, sex has the right to life and this being violated is alarming. The United States is a developed nation but there is a major racial divide and lack of equality amongst the population that still needs room for growth. We need to address the issue. It is a sensitive incident: Asian women are condemned with violence which is evidently documented towards immigrants, working-class, and Southeast Asian women. As the world is growing we need to make an account to direct humanity towards peace and equality. It is our sole responsibility to make the world a better place to live. The Democratic Youth Coalition stands in solidarity with the AAPI community and urges the addressing of this issue be with extreme delicacy and justice. We fight against the discrimination against the AAPI community and support their demands against white supremacy. As our nation grieves for that loss, we pray for the recovery of the families and loved ones of those who have passed. We hope you are coping with this delicate time peacefully.
